“Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
~Life’s Little Instruction Book, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Writer Dad is 100 posts old today. We’ve moved from two digits to three.
I was wondering if I could ask you all for a favor in celebration of our little landmark.
One of the things that has made this blog what it is, has been the constant flow of reader feedback. To this, I am forever grateful. It is you who have pushed my writing far further, and far faster, than it would have flown otherwise.
In lieu of a lengthy post, I’d like to ask that you leave a thought below. I’m requesting one of two kinds; a compliment, or one to grow on. Please tell me what it is that you enjoy about Writer Dad, or what it is you believe I can do better.
I won’t be downstairs today. I’ll read, smile, take notes, etc., but the floor is yours. Please do not be shy. If you’ve never commented before, it only takes a minute. You will need to enter an email address, but no one will ever see it, save for me, and I’m not a collector. If you would like to say something anonymously, you may enter anonymous (or something more imaginative) and use writerdad@writerdad.com as the email address.
Thank you all for everything, and here’s to a hundred more.
Writer Dad

I enjoy your clever turn of a phrase, lines that I would never have thought of, creative ways of saying things that stand apart from the cliche-ridden blogosphere. I enjoy the way you write – a style that is unique to you. I enjoy your sincerity and your sense of humor. Lastly, I enjoy your passion which shows in your words, passion for your family, for writing and for things such as movies, all things we can relate to share our own experiences. You set the stage for others to also tell their tales in a community which is very welcoming.
Thank you and Happy 100 posts!

WD, It’s the courage you demonstrate in putting your work out for people to see. You don’t let fear of criticism hold you back, and more than that, you encourage feedback – even critical feedback.
The biggest draw of all is what you’re trying to do with your life.
Happy Hundredth.

@Matthew Dryden: That was funny! You caught me off guard. :-)
@Sean, I think what Ulla said sums it up perfectly:
“Whenever I take the time and come over to read I am glad that I did it. ”
Your sincerity, approachability, huge imagination, love for family and family values, passion and, of course, excellent writing skills make you one of my favorite bloggers by far.
Keep it up, buddy! Eric.

I enjoy your writing style and sharing in your victories; it makes me feel like I can improve too. My only complaint is that you don’t have more victories.

Congrats on hitting the big 100 Sean, wow that has came quickly. You inspired me to check my own and I’m at 32, I’m surprised I’ve wrote that much already.
Here’s to the next 100.

Sean,
This is the first post I read in the morning, and the last post I check comments on before going to sleep. I figure it is the best way to start and end my day, save kissing my wife. What you are doing is incredible and it gives me great joy to say that I know you. Keep it up and yes, we can be patient together, just don’t be paitent faster than me ;)

Sean,
Happy 3-digits!
Your words flow from a heart and mind that are curious, gentle, authentic, generous, and creative. People crave authenticity, genuine stories, and strong foundations — such as family love — and you offer that all up with the easy-going richness of The Storyteller. Your ways of expressing life’s interconnections and craziness often read like the photo you have here today of the balloons — fun, colorful, wild … always poised to shoot skyward on a grand journey from you mind to ours.

Congratulations, Sean! You promote community, share, spread your arms wide and invite us to come closer. You speak your mind and you speak it lyrically. You show confidence, and that’s catching. You reach, and reach… You help me slow down; sometimes, if I’m in a hurry and reading too quickly, I miss what you’re saying, so I slow and I find the nugget. You show, more than anything else—at least to me—how wonderful and fresh it is to be unique. “You” shine through your writing. Again, Sean, congratulations!

I enjoy the way discussions take shape here. You encourage feedback well through your thoughtful and supportive responses. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I was a little disappointed to read that you wouldn’t be appearing “downstairs” today. Ah, well…

I always come away from your posts with a deeper appreciation of the English language thanks to your excellent use of vocabulary. I come here not only to gain insight from a father’s perspective, but to see what I can do better as a writer and blogger. I applaud your work and beg you to continue entertaining, enlightening, and exciting us with your work. Be well.

Whatever you’re doing, it’s obviously working.
One thing I would not necessarily suggest – but just something to mull over.
You could always do 3 posts a week instead of 5. I’m not saying I don’t like 5 a week; I’m only saying it may be more advantageous to you. Particularly when you consider many readers are subscribed to many blogs, it may be easier for them to stay on track.
That being said, many of the finest blogs on the planet post daily, Pro Blogger and CopyBlogger come to mind.
From a business standpoint; I think 3 a week is the ideal, for a variety of reasons. That being said, I could be wrong. Further, your blog is unique in its presentations.
Men with Pens not too long ago cut down to 3 a week….
I just thought I’d throw this idea out there, as a topic of interest; not anything I actually feel strongly about. I find it fun to think of different methods for propelling a blog.
Wishing you only ever expanding success as your blog flies light years beyond 100 posts.
