“Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
~Life’s Little Instruction Book, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Writer Dad is 100 posts old today. We’ve moved from two digits to three.
I was wondering if I could ask you all for a favor in celebration of our little landmark.
One of the things that has made this blog what it is, has been the constant flow of reader feedback. To this, I am forever grateful. It is you who have pushed my writing far further, and far faster, than it would have flown otherwise.
In lieu of a lengthy post, I’d like to ask that you leave a thought below. I’m requesting one of two kinds; a compliment, or one to grow on. Please tell me what it is that you enjoy about Writer Dad, or what it is you believe I can do better.
I won’t be downstairs today. I’ll read, smile, take notes, etc., but the floor is yours. Please do not be shy. If you’ve never commented before, it only takes a minute. You will need to enter an email address, but no one will ever see it, save for me, and I’m not a collector. If you would like to say something anonymously, you may enter anonymous (or something more imaginative) and use writerdad@writerdad.com as the email address.
Thank you all for everything, and here’s to a hundred more.
Writer Dad

Whatever you’re doing, it’s obviously working.
One thing I would not necessarily suggest – but just something to mull over.
You could always do 3 posts a week instead of 5. I’m not saying I don’t like 5 a week; I’m only saying it may be more advantageous to you. Particularly when you consider many readers are subscribed to many blogs, it may be easier for them to stay on track.
That being said, many of the finest blogs on the planet post daily, Pro Blogger and CopyBlogger come to mind.
From a business standpoint; I think 3 a week is the ideal, for a variety of reasons. That being said, I could be wrong. Further, your blog is unique in its presentations.
Men with Pens not too long ago cut down to 3 a week….
I just thought I’d throw this idea out there, as a topic of interest; not anything I actually feel strongly about. I find it fun to think of different methods for propelling a blog.
Wishing you only ever expanding success as your blog flies light years beyond 100 posts.

I have only recently subscribed to your blog, but I love how devoted you clearly are to both the art of writing and the art of living. Not many bloggers achieve that balance with style and integrity.
Interestingly, I just wrote a post about how much I value comments and dialogue–they feed my ideas, broaden my perspective, and push my writing. Isn’t it nice to know we are not alone?
Congrats on your landmark!

Tossing some virtual confetti into the air, having a virtual piece of cake (no, make that a real piece of cake!) — 100, awesome!! Your first century has been an amazing ride – I know there will be many more great things to come!
I love the way your words flow – they just fit so well together when you say them!
It’s been fun watching you grow to 100, and it’s great being here at the party today!!

I love your quote at the beginning of each post. Where do you find them? Do you structure your post around a quote you like, or try to find a quote to fit your post?
Also love your metaphors and succinct expressions.
But (sorry, you asked for it!), some of your posts are too long, and I lose interest. I am a product of the Twitter generation now.

Hmm…first, one to grow on – put it back to larger type!! Or is it just my computer having indigestion again? Because the post was so tiny, I almost couldn’t read it…and I have good eyes. Or…I thought I did.
The compliment – I enjoy your writing in general, and always come away from a post with something to think about…but what I enjoy the most? That your comments section is a conversation between you, us, each other. You put thought, effort, and time into commenting on other blogs and invite us to do the same here, and you answer us without rancor if we get snarky or picky. That’s awesome – it allows a sense of connection that is often lacking in other blogs (where one is merely a reader, not a member of the community).

Happy 100! I just celebrated 50 posts, but not til I was almost starting 51 did I realize I had 50 *sheepish grin*
I really want you to keep it real. Think about those little things you’re about to say, and then your inner comfort zone says no, don’t post that. Like Havi says, the more human you can be, the more we can relate to you and love you. =)

Congrats, Sean!
I’ve been a fan of yours since the beginning. I haven’t read all of your posts — 1 post per day is too much for me to handle — but I read around two per week, and it’s been awesome to watch your story unfold.
You are doing something big here. And seriously, wow! You are moving fast!
I admire your sincerity and openness! Hold tight to them and you’ll be big in no time. Or maybe you already are :)
Wishing you best of luck for the next 100!

Happy congratulations and congratulatory happiness on this, your 100th post!
I remember my 100th post on August 17th, 2006. It was right before I went to Urbana University and I was so excited to go! Good times! Little did I know of what I would face in the months ahead though…
I’m so happy that you have such a strong community after only 100 posts. My post count’s up to 453 and I’m just now starting to come into my own as a blogger and building a community around my blog.
Granted, the majority of those posts are from my old Xanga account and they’re not all that great. However, they do provide a window into the past and I can see what I was doing and writing about 1-2 years ago.

I like the look of your blog, especially the big buttons and the photos, but I also like your insights. You have a way of characterizing things that I haven’t really found anywhere else.
Here’s to the next 100.

I wish I could remember how I found your community. I do remember the first time I read and the way you voiced your thoughts and the like was poetic, without being poetic. I was mesmerized by the way the words flew across the screen, almost dancing in my mind. I said to myself just “wow.” I’ve been here ever since. Yeah, the first time I commented was in the middle of a…um…battlefield. But you know, that post and that day really truly showed me community.
So, just keep up the good work. And HAPPY WORDSDAY!

Sean,
100 Kisses for 100 posts. Your words make the world feel like a happy song and when you need to take care of business you handle it like a gentleman. I am proud to share my pillow with you and super psyched we made a Mia and a Max to keep the ferocity of words and banter alive until they make their own. Thank you for sharing your presents/presence with anyone who will read. We are tight as rope and I will sail with your crew any day.
Namesté Angel,
Daisy
I’ve enjoyed your blog immensely, even if I don’t always comment. I love your photos, and your quotes. You writing seems effortless, and is such a pleasure to read. That, to me, is what makes an incredible writer.
congrats.

@Writer Dad
Happy 100th!
Hmmm…you want one to grow on?
My only constructive feedback, is that I’d like to read more stories about kids. But not just the heart-warming tales you write so well. But also the funny stories where they act like little sh*ts and drive Writer Dad crazy :-)
You must have quite a few of these tales saved up. And with your unique writing style, I bet you this would make for some pretty hilarious reading!

Happy hundredth Writer Dad.
I like the wayward path you take to some of your points. I particularly like when you do flashbacks, The Wonder Years style, like your story of The Quan.

It warms my heart to see a dad who so enjoys his children. You clearly are amused, fascinated and excited about them. Your blog reminds us to see our own children as the special gifts that they are. I sincerely hope that you have a lot of male readers on your list, as I think it lets them know it’s not only okay to be an involved parent, it’s wonderful!

Happy 1ooth Sean! You are an amazing writer, teacher, dad, person…you’ve shared your gifts with my children and helped shaped their young lives. Now you are sharing your thoughts and ideas with the world. The world is a better place because of you and Daisy.
