• Miko's Girl: Wonder Woman's awesome because she's not just super hero, she's mythological god as well. It's hard to get cooler than that. I worked in a flower shop for twelve years and know exactly how much weddings can run. That's why I ran away to Vegas. : > )
  • Love your answers - would definitely agree on George Clooney...I thought I would be Wonder Woman until someone mentioned Brenda Starr. My most expensive purchase outside of my home and car was my wedding and then my college education.
  • Vered: You are so unfailingly sweet to me, Vered. Thank you.

Laurie: A meme is a set of questions passed around from one blogger to another. A kind of twenty-first century chain letter I suppose.

Stacey: That's a great list! Way more productive than most I'd venture to say. Good for you. I suppose you know precisely how to create a balance. : > )

Jake: Dude. That's not cool at all. My mom wouldn't let me play with GI Joe because they were "military." Sigh.

Stephen: I'm with you. I can barely keep up myself. I do appreciate you stopping by. It's nice to know you.
  • Writer Dad, I read so many blogs I can barely keep up. I keep seeing your comments on some of my favorite blogs so I decided to check out your work. WOW, I see why you have so many fans. You are very talented or you work really hard. Probably both. Whatever the case, thank you for doing it.

"Kill Bill" - I'm with you on that one. Fantastic movie and one of my favorites of all time.
  • My Mom made me send back a He-Man electric toothbrush given to me as a young child by my uncle because that particular cartoon had "magic" in it. Um, yeah.
  • I enjoyed reading your answers. My highlights for 2008 were 1) attending SARK's Juicy Pens Thirsty Paper workshop, 2) starting my blog, 3) meeting so many amazing bloggers, and 4) developing a writing practice.
  • Laurie
Batman? No..... Wolverine is the coolest ever. He is the best bad boy out there. He can eject his blades anytime for me!

    OK, here's a dumb question.....what's a meme?
  • It's so nice to get to know you better, Sean. Re your four qualities, I could have listed them if I were asked about you!
  • Paul: The original TV show lives in my nightmares. I prefer the work of Alan Moore and Frank Miller; the darker side of Batman for sure.

Steely Dad: I don't have permission, but Malena is one of our favorite movies. Unfortunately, our DVD has a scratch. One more reason I love digital.
  • Great meme, Sean! Monica Bellucci...I couldn't agree more. That woman is all WOMAN and she is completely HOT! My wife has given me permission that should she somehow knock on our door I get to take her out. If you haven't already seen it, check out Malena. One of the sexiest movies...EVER!
  • I never thought about that... Batman and his lack of superpowers, just a lean mean fighting machine. But still, the original series was pretty goofy. (I suppose there have been tones of movies though...)
  • David: The grass is always greener. I had MAD Masters of the Universe, but all my friends had GI Joes, so of course that was what I wanted.

Mom: Oh, I remember what happened with the old attic. My treasured memories were never part of the crap I wanted you to throw away. I'll write about my comics on some once upon a Sunday.

Marc: Yeah, those original Star Wars toys (especially in the package) are worth a LOT of money.

Mare: Hey, I learned from the best. : > )

Kool Aid: I still, on occasion and only when no one is watching, raise my imaginary sword in the air and say, "By the Power of Greyschool...."

    Barbara: NEVER.

Cindy: I love you sweetheart. Your words aren't too shabby, they're some of my very favorite to read.

Patricia: Just make it fun. Look at each question as, "How can I make this answer as whimsical as possible?" Then answer. We all look forward to reading it.

TrainingUpChildren: Thanks! It's true about Bruce, but he does put a pounding on the bad guys so he can totally get away with it.

Janice: Third, my sister and I will be fighting for first. : > )
  • I want Writer Dad's mum to have her own blog. I'd be the first to subscribe and would cower before her scariness in the comments boxes.
  • I would have to say Batman too. However, I am surprised that he is still considered a good guy these days. After all, Bruce Wayne is an evil capitalist rich guy. Anyway, I love your blog. It is nice to see someone else out there who makes being a dad look cool.
  • I have been holding off on doing this meme from Blogger Dad...You guys are so creative and clever and I am so intense, who wants to read that?

Brenda Starr? reporter extraordinaire! with tons of hair ... my toys were books...though I did have a Tiny Tears doll, which when we opened the box to give it to my oldest daughter it had turned to dust...with lovely clothes that my mum had made it...I think I freaked my child out!

You have such a way with words and I am glad you are sharing them with all of us...
Thank you for some more about you...
  • I concur with Barbara, Mother in laws never let us forget. Dave Fowler I accept the compliment. Mother in law you are a crack up. Sean you even make a meme fun and generate lots of buzz. I am so glad you called me when I gave you my business card. Life is better with the right words and you have them all sweetheart.
  • Hi Writer Dad,

As I was reading the post and comments, I had to laugh when I saw the one from your mother. They never let us forget, do they? :)
  • I am so not surprised about the Castle Greyskull! I loved watching He-Man, and I remember running around school recess with my friends and we'd all have our swords in the air. And my mother-in-law did save all of Trey's Star Wars figures in their original Darth Vader carrying case and gave them to us not too long ago. Needless to say, they're still safely stored away.

    Thanks for playing along :)
  • "Tell me one thing I don’t know about you: KLFDJ ljadfk ieoolak jfie i;alfjie jill afme." Well now, that's just creative :-)
  • writerdad's mom
hey, sean, you should tell your readers about your impressive collection of comic books that you painstakingly saved in their special sleeves (even your leather-bound copies) that were devasatingly lost in your ex-girlfriends basement! so sad!!!!!!!
you could buy something pretty impressive with what they probably would be worth today!
  • I wish my mother hadn't given away all my Star Wars toys those things would have been worth a fortune!

lol @ Fowler. We have a saying in geek gaming circles: Pwned :P
  • writerdad's mom
first off, let me say, Dave Fowler, are you on crack? Cindy has her own beauty, but in no remote way resembles Monica or Salma. Having said that, I love George in all his incarnations, from "the facts of life " boyfriend, to Roseann's boss, to his scoundral, romantic lead and anything roles. He is just plain yummy! As to your toys, Sean....I was always holding on to everything that you and Megan had (I am a packrat, remember?) you guys were always telling me to throw that "crap" away and I insisted that you would love to have your toys when you had children of your own. In the 90's, when we moved to another house and everything was left in the attic transients broke in and stole everything, remember? I was crushed... your castle greyskull and Megan's my little ponies. hopefully, you will hold on to the future generations of dinosours and ponies for your kids. love ya mom P.S. thanks for making sure I wasn't crushed under tons of knick-knacks last nite!
  • Castle Greyskull was so cool. I didn't have any He-Man guys when I was a kid, but my friends sure did. I remember being at their houses thinking, "Man, if I had this I would play with it all day every day." They were equally enthralled with my buckets of Lego. Grass is greener, I guess...
  • Marc: Seriously. Along with the Smurfs, He-Man, another 7 or 8 Transformers, and freaking Battleship (I kid you not).

Friar: LOL, Green Lantern the D lister. It's so true. Infinite power, so long as he's not around the color yellow. Lame. His movie already sucks and they haven't even shot a reel yet.

J.D.: No, I have almost nothing from my childhood, sadly. It was awesome though, at least I have the memories. You're right, it's pretty hard to argue with Spidey.
  • So you got the power ... do you still have Castle Greyskull?

Batman is cool and I like how he pushes limits within the boundaries of a simple man. That said, I wouldn't mind being a Web slinger ... and Spidey-sense can sure come in handy.
  • Batman is okay...but he has zero special powers. Granted, he's a martial arts expert (but so is everyone else in Asia, if you believe the kung-fu movies). He just happens to be a billionaire who inherited a fortune so he has cool toys that help him fight crime.

But really...what cool extraordinary stuff can he do?

If I had to be a superhero....I'd at least pick one that could fly. (After all, isn't that what the whole point is?)

I'd fly in formation next to the Bat-Jet (which the pressurized Bat-cabin and Bat-autopilot and all that Bat-crap) and go "Nyah! Nyah! Nyah! ..lookit me...I don't NEED a wussy plan to fly!"

But I wouldn't be one of those A-List superheroes. Imagine being Superman? Somewhere on the planet, at any given time, a volcano is exploding, or a bank is being robbed, or a village is flooding, and you'd be obligated to help out. You'd never get a moment's rest.

Better to be a "D-Lister". Green Lantern, for example. You can use that stupid ring to make yourself fly, but nobody would ever bother you. At least you'd still have a life.
  • Seriously?! They're making a Thundercats movie?!

    HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    Sorry couldn't resist :D
  • Tracy: It would have been impossible to refuse. It's cracking me up how into the He-Man everybody is. 80's cartoon based toys were the best. It's only a matter of time before our entire childhoods have been twisted into Summer fodder for the theater. Did you hear Thundercats is next?

GreenJello: Awesome - you delivered the whole thing! I could not have done that.
  • "I am Adam, Prince of Eternia, defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull. This is Cringer-- my fearless friend. Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic sword, and said..."
  • By the power of Greyskull I have the power!

I know other people said that already but how could I not?

Did you say anything else? My attention totally scattered when I started thinking about 1980s cartoon based toys and my head is something like "A real American Hero - Care Bear Stare - Fight the evil forces of the Decepticons - We're the Smurfs La La".
  • Tara: I don't know if you know this, but there's a screenplay for a He-Man movie floating around that's supposed to be all kinds of hell yeah, and not in a jokey GI Joe kind of way. It's been described as Lord of the Rings meets the Matrix, by people I trust. Could be cool.

Kat: Because the world is a sadder place.

Marc: My pleasure Marc. It was actually easier to answer these questions last night at 11:00 PM then it would have been to pull something from the ether.

Dave: Awesome to see you Dave! I'll tell Cindy you said that. She'll smile and say, "You stop it!"

Kyddryn: Me too. It's impossible to relate to Superman, and though difficult to do so with Batman, it is by no means impossible. Batman is dark, but also endlessly interesting.

Hayden: Monica and George - can you imagine the children they'd make? Whistle...

Janice: I think George Clooney is actually terrific casting for a slightly older Batman, but I think he was in the wrong movie with the wrong director.
  • Ah, George Clooney's eyes... I could drown in them. Strangely, I adored him singing and jigging on the stage in Oh Brother Where art Thou, his least suave moment...

I can't answer any more because Marc tagged me too and I've just given away one of my first answers! By the way, what did you make of George as Batman?
PS Hi, Dave Fowler - good to see you back!!
  • By the power of Greyskull!!!!

P.S. I second the vote for Monica Bellucci and George Clooney. Love this list!
  • Batman...cool...that was my first thought, for while he has wealth and privilege to aid him, in the end his success or failure falls on him, on his actions, his choices, and sometimes he fails...but he always rallies, goes back into the fray, enjoins the struggle, and (of course, because he is for entertainment purposes) triumphs. He is attainable. I like that.

    Shade and Sweetwater,
    K
  • Monica Bellucci and Salma Hayek?
I'm sorry Writer Dad but you can't pick women who bear a close resemblance to your wife!
  • Ahh yes, I too have fond memories of the Castle Greyskull set.

I agree with Tara. A lot of memes are rubbish or just a rehashed version of an older one. This however was fun to answer. Thanks for playing along Sean :)
  • Kat
"By the power of greyskull...I have the power!" I love HeMan. *sigh* Why don't they make cartoons like that anymore?
  • "Masters of the Universe Castle Greyskull set" - you just shot up in my estimation right there!
I know memes can be a pain in the, but I do like this one as you get to learn a lot more about your fav bloggers.
