• Hi Mia-Maria!

I don't know if I'm writing this too late for you to see it, but I'm sure your Daddy will get it to you. My name is Naomi, and I used to help writers for my job. I see you have a lot of fans here, and I want to make sure I give everybody enough space, but I wanted to tell you a little something. I'm very impressed with everything you wrote here, but this is what I liked the best:

I like to cuddle with my mommy and daddy because it makes me feel beaming.

Your writing will always be beautiful when you use words that make it easy for people to understand how you feel. Anybody can write facts, but if you keep writing your feelings like that, you'll have loyal fans forever.

I'll have movie treats tomorrow and my boys and I will think of you.

Amazing Little Mia! I felt so proud of you when I read your post. You are such an amazing little lady! You are probably the most articulate 7 year old I've ever met, and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have my little Jackson look up to! He absolutely adores you! I've been lucky enough to see your art, and I'm blown away every time. I think I'm pretty lucky to have a "Mia" original on the wall of my house. (A self portrait none the less).
    Thanks for sharing your words!
  • Hi Mia,

My daughter enjoyed reading about you, and I did too. You sound like a wonderful young lady and I wish we could meet someday. I hope you keep up the writing because you are very good at it. You're creative and you sound like you really enjoy your school and what you do. I'm very impressed that you're learning all the different things they teach at your school.

I've been reading your daddy's blog for several months now, and my favorite things that he writes are the stories he shares about you and Max. I can't wait to read more about you and your family and I hope to see you write more, too. I would LOVE to see some of your drawings, though. I studied art in college and still draw and paint sometimes, so I really like to see creative children and what they come up with. I hope you can share some of your art with us.

Thank you for sharing with us.
  • Hi! My name is Monkey. My favorite things to do are watching movies and snuggling with my mom and dad. I love to play with my friends. My favorite kind of foods are pizza, fish sticks and chili. My favorite kinds of desserts are chocolate cake and chocolate and vanilla ice cream. My favorite movies to watch are Sky Dancers and Homeward Bound II. I have one American Girl doll. Her name is Samantha. She is really cute. I have a brother named Little Man. Whenever we give each other hugs and kisses, he always knocks me down and hugs me.

I'm in first grade, too, and I like to read, draw and play. I read a lot of chapter books. I like to read all kinds of books. Right now, I'm reading The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis. It's book six on the Chronicles of Narnia. Can we be friends?

    I'm amazed. Speechless. Stunned.

For a girl of your age, Mia, you're a fabulous writer! You should take over the blog for good, you know that? ;) (although I must admit your dad is pretty good too)
  • Laurie
Hi Mia! We have something in common in that I use to be 7 and I use to go to school! He he he.

I loved it when you said, "I like to cuddle with my mommy and daddy because it makes me feel beaming". As a mommy myself, I know your words will make your mommy and daddy feel beaming! It always makes me feel beaming when my boys cuddle and love on me. Now they are both bigger then me and like to pick me up and throw me over their shoulder. That makes me laugh really hard which is dangerous when you get to be my age. ;-)

Thanks for sharing about yourself. You are a beautiful young lady. I love your hair!
  • writerdad's mom
Hi , sweetie-pie. I loved reading your post today. You expressed yourself very well. (and you look super-cute!)
I look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow. I've missed you . Call me if you want me to bring any goodies or crafts. Love you. Grammy.
  • Mia,
You are a very interesting little girl! I am very impressed by your writing skills. You have a magnificent way with words, just like your mom and dad. (Their words have made me cry on many occasions--but that's a good thing!) Do you ever think of having your own blog some day? I think that would be great fun.

    Bye for now!
  • Hi Mia,

It's VERY nice to meet you.

I have a seven year old daughter, and she loves to draw too.

It's great that you love being seven. It's a wonderful age.

    Yours,

    Vered
  • Mia Marie,
Thank you for sharing your lovely words and picture with us today. I think your dancing program sounds so wonderful and colorful. I love to dance and my three daughters all wished they had had dancing lessons, but not enough time with soccer, swimming, bike riding, and singing!

My oldest daughter went to Denmark and learned to speak Danish because no one at her school spoke English there. Middle Daughter keeps studying French. My youngest daughter used to be fluent in sign language.

I hope you will write again on the blog. We did not have TV until just recently - we put on plays on Saturday night and had a huge closet full of dress up clothing so we could be anything we could imagine. Aren't we lucky to have such neat family fun?
  • Hi Mia: I'm sorry Max antagonizes you, but it sounds like you have fun on Friday movie nights. I grew up in a Spanish-speaking country but I was in an American school where we always spoke English, so my experience was similar to yours (just the other way around). I hope your father lets you write more posts on Writer Dad :-)
  • Janice
Thank you for answering all our questions! Our movie night is Friday too and I know what you mean about when you feel "beaming" when the whole family is together. By the way, I had to go and look up 'spumoni' so thanks for helping me learn, too!
  • Trina
Hola Mia! You sure have learned a lot from hanging out with your Mom and Dad. Reading your thoughts with words like 'rascaliest' and 'antagonizing' are a pure joy to read. When you say you feel beaming during family moments, I want you to know that is such a good way to describe a universal feeling when families spend special time together. Thanks for sharing some of your self with us. My kids wear a uniform to school too. I think everyone gets to know each other better when they arent distracted by the clothes they wear.
  • Hi Mia!

Your guest post is the first post I've ever read on your dad's blog! I heard about it from a friend of mine on another website called Twitter.

I have a 6 year old daughter and she likes movies about animals too, especially horses. And we have Movie Night at our house too. We turn off all the lights and we have movie theater food like hot dogs, nachos and popcorn.

You're a very good writer, especially for a 7 year old. Oh, and if you think being 7 is cool, wait until you turn 10!

    Have a good day, Mia!
  • Hi Mia! I loved being seven, too.

Thanks for sharing with us. You write very well - far better than I did at the age of seven. When I was your age, I drew space ships and Spiderman all the time. I wasn't very good but I kept at it and got much better. We'd all love to see your drawings!

Those are pretty flowers. Did your Aunt Megan give them to you?
  • Hi Mia,

My favourite desserts are chocolate chip cookies and ice cream too!

You made me smile as I read your post. Thank you for sharing with us and letting us get to know you. You're very special. :)
  • Hi, Mia!

I think it's great that you get to learn Spanish in school like you do. I wish my kids could do that!
  • Kim
    Hi Mia:
I have 3 children including a daughter who is 8! She would LOVE to play with you, I can just tell. She has a rascally little brother, too; he's 6. They would love to see your drawings of bunnies, and my daughter would happily watch those American Girl movies with you. You are so lucky to be able to attend a school where you are learning another language! My children work with a tutor once a week to learn Spanish but they learn very slowly that way. I will show your post to my daughter later today; maybe she'll write a comment too!
  • Lori
    Mia,
How nice of you to tell us about yourself. For a seven year old, you express yourself very well. Did you get this skill from your mom, Writer Dad or both?

So you like to draw bunnies, eh? Where I live, we have lots of wild bunnies and jack rabbits. They get along well with the quail when they all come to drink from the water we put out for them.
  • [LOL, "I love being seven". Awesome.]

    Hi, Mia,

Ballet Folklorico sounds like a lot of fun. I like to dance too, though I don't have to memorize anything. I'm sure "La Azteca" will rock the house!

    Hayden
  • Mia, I've never known a seven year old who could use the word antagonizing in a sentence. In fact, there are many adults I know who don't write nearly as well as you do.

I hope you'll post more here on your daddy's blog and please share a drawing with us. Everyone would love to see your art work!

    Jaime
  • Hi Mia,
You are beautiful and you write really well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
We have movie night on Fridays as well - when the whole family cuddles while watching the movie. We love it as much as you do, I think :)
You should share a drawing of a bunny rabbit too!
