Mia: I loved your song and your whole video, Mia! I know your dad and mum are proud of you always, but I bet your mum’s so proud of you and your dad and Max in these wee videos that she could eat you up with a spoon! Thank you for agreeing to do this for your dad and for all of us. It’s a pleasure to meet you and your family.

Mandarin’s a great choice; someone as smart as you, with your English, Spanish and Mandarin, will be able to travel all over the world and do any job you fancy!

Sean: dad/computer, eh….? made me smile!

Ummmm skunk? hmmm I can be very black and white in how I see the world. I can connect to Flower in Bambi. Apple? Definitely little girl. Hit the nail on the head. Polished, bright, red, shiny, national symbol for teachers, an apple a day keeps the doctor away, I love applesauce and 2 sppons of flax seed for breakfast every day….
Mia, I cannot believe what an incredible difference you have made in my life. A miracle in action and a reminder to be the best person you can be. You made me take my my next steps and face issues only a child can do. I am proud of you.

    Mommy, Mamá, skunk, APPLE!

Thanks for letting us see that adorable toothless grin! What a precious little sprite she is. And I am so proud of her choice of Mandarin as her next language. I KNOW I did not know what Mandarin was at the age of seven.

Mia, did you know you made me cry when you sang your song? I am a wimp when it comes to little children singing. I am the president over the Sunday school at my church and all the kids know that if they sing a certain song, I start crying. Of course that is the very song they request over and over—just to see me cry. How mean is that? :)

That was a very beautiful blouse you were wearing!

Wrap me up in marshmallows, that was so swwet. Thanks for having fun with us Mia, and I am glad that ‘del conejito’ is a favourite…. of course it is special that Mama and Papa were right at the top. I watched you with my daughter (13) and she couldnt stop saying just how cute you are. She understands about generous, nutty, awesome younger brothers too. Your laughter and enthusiasm are contagious.

MIA- What a beautiful song. Your Spanish is flawless mariposa! And those missing teeth…I love it! I should have known, you always did love bugs. I think of you whenever I see a butterfly. What a fun thing to do with your dad. It was great to see you. Gus watched you with me and he was VERY excited to see his old friends.

Too brilliant. This was the best thing I’ve watched all week.

Mia ~ Climbing trees is SO much better than nail polish. Trust me! Have you watched your interview because your dad’s expressions and reactions are priceless?

Mia, thanks for answering those questions. Flying bunnies, eh? Would they be something like bunny birds then? Ha! It’s so nice to see your enthusiasm and warmth coming through on the video. Loved the song. I took a few years of Spanish in high school and college, but I think Mandarin would have been fun, too.

She is PRECIOUS! What a doll!

I love that she’s not super-girlie. No nail polish for her. After, all, what would an entymologist want with nail polish! My daughter, age 10, would definitely prefer bugs to nail polish too.

Mandarin huh? I am SO not surprised! If anyone could pick this up easily, it will definately be Mia. :-) A skunk huh??? Hmm…I bet she is thinking along the lines of Flower from Bambi. An adorable, humble, sweet skunk. (It’s been a long time since I saw Bambi, but that’s how I remember flower). :-)

  40. Another wonderful post! Mia, first I have to say that climbing trees is far better than nail polish. Nail polish doesn’t smell good and it just chips off anyway. We have a little “bug hill” in our yard each spring that my son Maxx and daughter Mya (almost like Mia) created. They collect bugs and examine them on the “hill”. Then they put them back where they found them if they don’t scoot away.

I’d love that you have so much artwork. Our house is full of it, too. My father was an artist so I have many of his paintings. Your imagination is a wonderful place…maybe you can draw that flying bunny and Dad can post it!

    Great job!
