I think times are different now too. My dad wasn't too present with us, but he's a much different dad to his twin daughters, now ten years old. It also sounds like you have a wealth of cool stories to trade for the absence. It wasn't like you just didn't care, which is the case for some dads. Then I got to bring her home and my wife just loves to tell this story, I took her up to the nursery and snuggled her into the rocking chair with pillows. I then played her 3 of my favorite pieces on the guitar and read her every book on her library shelf.
