Thanks Susan!

Yeah, I really love writing in rhyme, and would LOVE to do an entire book someday. I think it's a great way to teach because it's instantly engaging. One of these days I'll make it happen!

I think this is my favorite line, just because of the playful little twist.

"College, car, a wedding day; plus, Mom and Dad could bet,
Promise would need at least ten things, not invented yet."

You continue to dazzle me with your talent. Wrapping important lessons into poetry is an impressive feat. Well done.

I especially liked the two lines below. Athough the parents worked hard to save, their 30 years of sacrifice were happy ones. It's a nice reminder that you can have a good life without living beyond your means.
"Mom and Dad were ready to tell and fully confident,
That thirty years of saving had been three decades nicely spent."

Hi Emily! Awesome to see you. Yeah, this is one of my favorite things I think I've ever written. I hope someday it goes somewhere other than a quick to fade blog post, as I do believe it's a message that could do a great deal for families willing to listen.

Thanks for dropping in. : > )

Thanks Becky! I appreciate the compliment. Yeah, I couldn't agree more. The message in this poem is something all new parents could benefit from, and something most new parents don't ever take the time to consider.
