Mac N’ Cheese Never Hurt

mac and cheese

You know I don’t like Mac N’ Cheese.
Will you make me something different please?
Pizza or pasta, peas and potatoes,
Tacos or turkey, tofu and tomatoes.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, fish sticks or fries,
Sausage or soup or spaghetti surprise.
I’m really not picky, but I want something new.
You say I like it, I swear that’s not true.
Wait… what’s that you say? Ice cream for dessert!
Oh, what the heck… Mac N’ Cheese never hurt

  1. Potatoes doesn't rhyme with tomatoes. What's the matter with you?
I'm kidding of course! Not about it not rhyming – it doesn't – but I'm only pulling your leg. I liked the rhyme and luckily for me I'm fluent in American. :-)

Those burgers taste sooo good. I believe the secret's in the sauce!?

    Hey there, Mister Good Guy.

Actually, you don't want to know what's in the sauce.

  3. This one has the makings of a great children's book. It needs some illustrations, and it needs to be sitting on my kids' shelf. :)

And sine when is Dave Fowler “Mr. Good Guy”? What the heck did I miss while I was working? LOL Just kidding, Dave.

  4. Lori Hoeck says:

Ice cream still won't motivate me to eat Mac N” Cheese. Eeew.

But I like the peppy rhyming!

  5. margaret/sean's mom says:

Mac n cheese can be spiffed if you throw in some fish
A can of tuna topped with crackers and you've got a new dish.
Many times as a tot you had this on the menu
when there was no money to go out to a venue.
We got real creative when dollars were slim
everybody chowed down and did so with a grin.
Midnite mac n cheese was a true guilty pleasure
Cuz it was cheesy and creamy and to my tummy a treasure.
but i don't do that no more, nope, those days are gone
cuz i've vowed to be slender and healthy and strong!

    xoxo mom

  6. Hi Jamie! :)
Oh, Mister Good Guy is a self appointed title. I may even start talking about myself in the third person.
Kid away Jamie, I love it!

  7. You make it sound so special.

  8. I once served my 5 year old mac n' cheese for 2 straight weeks. It was not by MY choice–it was all the little bugger would eat.

  9. So true. I can't keep up with what foods my kids “like.” Just when I think I've got it down, it changes.

  10. Just Shannon says:

This has a Shel Silverstein feel to it ~ love it! I could totally see some cute little illustrations with it.

  11. writerdad says:

Yeah, my daughter's super fickle. The only thing that stays the same is her undying love of seaweed and fish, ugh and yuck! :)

  12. writerdad says:

Eventually. That's where I'd like to see Syllable Soup go. It might even be my most anticipated project. I have the rhymes, I would just need to know it wouldn't be a waste of time to string them together.

  13. I saw the addition of tuna to the mac & cheese…does anybody add hotdogs???
My parents tried to pass that off on us kids back in the day.

  14. writerdad says:

I say hot dogs in mac and cheese at a party once, but didn't dare to try it. :)
