Rita: Absolutely. Your comment about being a credit to the blogosphere I found touching. It stayed with me long after I read it. Thank you.

Barbara: The Chinese know a thing or two about precision; that's for sure.

Dr. Cason: The last photo capped it well, I thought.
  • I loved the last photo of the children of migrant workers. Such hope and beauty.

  • Hi Writer Dad,

I caught most of the opening ceremony on TV and it was amazing. When the young people (you've pictured) moved to form those perfect circles, I was in awe. The choreography required to make that happen was no small feat.
  • P.S. Isn't it wonderful that people can disagree publically or privately and have their respect for the other person INCREASE? That's how I feel about you and our exchange...and I thank you and respect you a tremendous deal!

    Best,
    Rita

  • Writer Dad,
I, too, enjoyed our interchange about the Olympics. I went and looked at all of the pictures, and they were absolutely stunning. Yes, you and I agree!

And I don't even have to say what's on my mind, and ruin our beautiful "MOMENT," as Linda already said it for me! (THANK YOU, LINDA. $300 MILLION FOR THE OPENING CEREMONIES ALONE!)

So you see WD, you will get absolute agreement from me. What gorgeous pictures. Thanks for sharing them. :-)

James: It is wonderful to hear your voice... or see your print. I think it's taken care of. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still a pup at this and I want to get better. Anyone reading this, feel free to tell me what I can do better.

Thank you Karen. I'm really excited about this week. I've got good stuff planned.

Linda: Yes. One of the reasons I started the blog was because I wanted to develop my voice. Speaking to an audience would help to shape that. I just didn't expect it to begin so soon. It has been enriching.

On another note, three-hundred million dollars! Wow. James Cameron could have made a movie for that; or PT anderson like a hundred.
  • Isn't this what blogging is all about?! A simply wonderful conversation with differing viewpoints being expressed with respect! Congrats for starting a good one, WD!

I thought the Opening Ceremonies were incredible entertainment! But . . . when I learned they cost $300 million to produce, I couldn't help but think how much better that money could have been spent to wipe out poverty and illness in the world. For the first time in my life, I really have mixed emotions on the Olympics!
  • Your article made me smile on this quiet, Sunday afternoon. I'm so happy you received such a lively response to "One World, One Dream"! I just subscribed to your feed last week, and have enjoyed your articles immensely. Keep up the good work!
  • Unrelated side note... I wish you'd publish full feeds and not partials.

That's a cool picture. I'm going to see if I can find the opening ceremonies on YouTube; I missed them on TV.
