• Well, it turned out to be the chocolate moose pie of my DREAMS! (Wiping drool off cheek…) :-) Eric.
  • Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving, Writer Dad - and thanks for hopping over to my site earlier. You mentioned your trip to Catalina over the summer. I've never been there but would love to check it out. Keep up your extraordinary blog work!

Glen: Thanks, and a happy (belated) Thanksgiving to you.

Beth: Me too. Might be the best one on the page.

Eric: So was it Moose Pie or not?

    Jim Gaudet: My pleasure.

    Laurie: Thanks kindly, Laurie.

Tara: Thanks for the across the pond well wishing.

VodkaMom: Turkeys are not made for living. They are made for Thanksgiving.

    : > )

Kyddryn: Thanks again for the cartoon. It is awesome. Thank you for all the wonderful sentiments, each and every day. Few things beat a perfect pot of soup.

Mare: No Thanksgiving in Panama, huh? Well happy banana weekend then. See you on Monday.

Jamie: Thank you Jamie. JFK had it going on. The holiday season is now started, and our family is wishing your family well.

Israeli Mom: You are quite welcome. I'll have to check the post out.

Friar: Dude, I LOVE it when you make up quotes. It's super funny and you do a great job, including with the names. You are welcome to manufacture quotes as often as you'd like.

J.D. Quite welcome, J.D. My pleasure.
  • Nice eclectic set of sentimentals. Happy Thanksgiving Writer Dad!

(Okay...okay...I admit it...I was having some fun here. I just made up those quotes now, off the top of my head). ;-)

But you gotta admit...what they say still rings true!

    I have a few more:

"The poor man who is thankful for what he has , is far richer than than the wealthy merchant who curses what he is missing"
    - Exed: 30:1

"Words of thanks can light a beacon of hope into the darkest of hearts"
    - P. J. Thornwaite.

"If you have a roof over your head, and eat three squares a day, consider yourself lucky. You're better off than 90% of the planet"
    - Permon Niquist

"Only in knowing hunger, can we learn to be thankful"
    - Traditional Huron Proverb.
  • Thanksgiving has to be my favorite holiday, out of the ones we do NOT celebrate here ;) I really love the concept of setting out time to give thanks for the good things in our lives. In fact, you and your quotes just inspired me to go make a post about it - thank you!

  • I love the pumpkin pi picture!

I got this quote in email today from Dorian at Drink Deeply.

    "As we express our gratitude,
we must never forget that the highest appreciation
is not to utter words, but to live by them." -John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Happy Thanksgiving to the Platt family and the Writer Dad community!

  • Happy Thanksgiving Sean! See you on Monday.
  • It is late in the day. My family ate hours ago, and we are all still replete - the pies have not yet been plundered, but they are shaking in their tins as I type, knowing the end is nigh.

Although much cooking was done before today, I was still busy in the kitchen - timing everything to come out at once, still hot, gravy still liquid (it congeals if one lets it sit too long...blech!), bread steaming from a re-warm (I baked it on Monday, it just wanted a little heating to give it a nice crust).

I was so busy, I didn't have time until now to check my usual run of blogs. Busy, busy, busy...OK, I'll cop to the fact that, after dinner and clean-up, while the Dutch apple crumb pie was baking (thank you, Mrs. Smith's, for your frozen delights), I napped. And then Mum and I were terribly busy watching a ventriloquist act on TiVo.

I was delighted by your cartoon...hmm...seen it before...and awesome quotes.

Happy Thanksgiving, sugar, to you and yours. I'm blessed to know you, if only electronically, and thankful too.

    Shade and Sweetwater,
K(who has enough leftovers to feed her family for the next week or so, providing they don't mind turkey-something on a daily basis. I sense soup in our future)

  • Happy Thanksgiving, Sean! Liz has got me stashed away in her mother's basement while she makes me my favorite pie. She thinks I don't know that's what she's doing so don't tell. Shhhhh! :-)

See you all on Monday! Eric.
